Tourism Safety offers two levels of audit service.
Self Auditing
The first is an on-line self assessment carried out by the hotel, resort or tour operator based on Federation of Tour Operators’ Preferred Code of Practice (Health &Safety) Guidelines. Self assessments are available for the 11 FTO audit areas.
Within the Excursions & Tours area audits are available for a range of adventure activities such as scuba diving, camel riding, hot air ballooning and swimming with dolphins. Tourism Safety has particular expertise in water-based recreation.

Full Inspection
The second level of auditing involves an on-site visit by one of our inspectors. In addition to the FTO safety audit areas we offer detailed inspections and reporting on open-water safety (beach, lagoon and ocean) based on international water safety standards. We also provide primary health care assessments for staff and guests based on World Health Organization guidelines.
Both self-assessment and inspection audit reports are held in a secure database. On a regular basis the names and locations of companies participating in the audit program will be posted on the Tourism Safety website. The benefit of this process is that hotels, resorts and tour operators can demonstrate to suppliers and the public their commitment to developing and maintaining health and safety standards.
Please note that the Tourism Safety audit program is not an accreditation process. Especially with self-assessments we cannot issue any guarantee that an operator is completely safe, and even with the best processes in place unforeseen events may occur.
